It tries a little bit of everything, and winds up with an air of messy desperation.

If you're sad and lonely, watch this great comedy, you'll still be lonely but at least you wont be sad about it anymore!

Martin is on great form in this delightfully silly comedy, although the material isn't his very best. There are moments of joyous, inspired lunacy, but despite cracking support from Grodin the film doesn't hang together quite as well as you'd hope.

This is my favorite Steve Martin film, and not many people talk about it. The humor is low-key to most (and, I think, not truly appreciated), but I went crazy with laughter through the entire movie. Charles Grodin is Martin's equal throughout in a quality comedic performance, and their chemistry is very good.
