One of the reasons that I am proud to call myself a Chicagoan is because Steve James lives here. HOOP DREAMS and now THE INTERRUPTERS teach us not only about the documentary form but also how we can be better humans. I can only hope Mr. James continues to splice our lives on the big screen.

Takes you into the streets of Chicago where gang shootings & killings take place all too often, & shows the people who in the middle of violence & the people trying to stop them from shooting. A group called "Cease Fire."

Solid documentary about a world you hope you never have to live in or through.

James and Kotlowitz are unsparing in their depiction of how rough life in Chicago's mean streets can get. Nonetheless, they also have a deep compassion for the people they follow.
