Based on book by ray bradbury . sci-fi/fantasy flick. 1969 effects and sets are funky.

successfully eerie and unsettling. the acting is absolutely superb and the directing is very tasteful. most noteably, the music is bone-chilling and unlike that of many other films.

Being a huge Ray Bradbury fan, I have been waiting to see this film for quite some time. Rod Steiger I awesome, but the film just falls flat just like most other adaptations of Bradbury's stories.

God, how I love Ray Bradbury. Automobile-era American boy is lured into witnessing the dark future of his nation's technological and imperial expansion through the crass story-telling of the older man, covered with pictures of rockets and porn, pictures he did not want, which cover his skin because he was lured into imagining dark futures by a beautiful woman. in this movie, woman begins history, and only women are capable of righting the moral disaster of the technology age, and boys and men are freighted with dark responsibilites that transcend both their desire and ability.

Book was awesome... Jerry Goldsmith's score was great... but those where the only good points of this slow paced and poorly executed film.
