Corrie and Betsie ten Boom are middle-aged sisters working in their father's watchmaker shop in pre-World War II Holland. Their uneventful lives are disrupted with the coming of the Nazis. Suspected of hiding Jews and caught breaking rationing rules, they are sent to a concentration camp, where their Christian faith keeps them from despair and bitterness.

This is the true story of the heroic Ten Boom family who, during the Nazi occupation of The Netherlands asked themselves the question, "If not us...who; if not now...when?" They answered it, and ultimately their response cost most of them their lives in various concentration camps. This is their story, as told from the perspective of the sole survivor, Corrie Ten Boom. She told their story in a book upon which the movie is based. She is a stark reminder of the innate goodness to be found in humanity and is a strong counterpoint to the cruelty of the Nazi regime. The themes are timeless and universal and give us all hope...

I watched "The Hiding Place" again after not seeing it for many years. It was extremely challenging and moving. It should be watched by any American Christian who has ever claimed to suffer persecution for the Lord's sake. How we need to pray that God would challenge our faith and get us out of our comfort zones!

A Dutch family is imprisoned for saving many Jews from the terror of Nazism. Though the story is that of great humanity, the screenplay overlooks some more obvious aspects that make it seem as memorable as an average TV movie on the subject.
