The Haunted World of Edward D. Wood, Jr. (1996)

Often called the worst director in the history of cinema, Ed Wood is nevertheless a beloved figure among cult-film aficionados for his oddball productions. This documentary takes a look back at Wood's unique career at the margins of 1950s Hollywood, speaking to those who loved him and hated him. Bela Lugosi Jr. discusses his father's work in the abysmal "Plan 9 From Outer Space," while a Baptist reverend recalls how he was tricked into financing the film.

I had really hoped that this would be more of a comprehensive and kitschy documentary about Ed Wood but it's really about the making of Plan 9. And that's not a bad thing, but the film makers have managed to make a documentary about a terrible move one of the most boring docs I've ever seen.

One of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

There was more to know about Ed Wood in this documentary then I thought. I liked how you got different views and opinions by everyone that worked with this man. Some loved him and some just down right hated him. It is a must see for fans of the biopic by Depp and Burton.

Solid biographical documentary tells the story of the extraordinary life of the legendary B-movie director. It gets pretty cheesy at times - though, I guess considering the subject matter, it's acceptable - but its good to hear the strange but true stories of Wood's life and career told by the people who lived it. Impressive production values for a documentary, but even though it did go on a bit long, it didn't feel like it delved as deeply as it could. Interesting, but not nearly as compelling as Tim Burton's fictionalized biopic.

Excellent! Though the presence of Dolores Fuller and Vampira, almost worshiping Ed Wood since kind of hypocrite.
