I'm haunted by this doc. It was both inspirational and depressing. Who knows how great Johnston would have been if he hadn't gotten into the lsd? Or maybe if he hadn't he would have eventually been browbeaten into giving up his art. It's hard to say. What inspired me was how absolutely driven he is to make art - at all costs, really.

One of the best music documentaries I've seen. Daniel Johnston is both inspirational and heartbreaking in the retelling of his tumultuous life. It's an interesting take on whether this man is a genius or just plain maniacal. I think the Oscars deifnitley overlooked this one for best documentary in 2006.

An extraordinary film. One of the greatest musical/lyrical geniuses of our time. The documentary does everything right to convey this in the strongest possible way.
