It works for me on a strange "B" movie level. Killer plants do population control. OK, it's cheesy I admit it. Imagine really ugly walking venus fly traps and lots of screaming. Who comes up with this stuff?

one of my favorite early childhood memories. triffids are almost as bad-ass as alligators. i had a dream i remade this with Ellen Page (aka Kitty Pryde) -- only in the dream she actually became a triffid 2/3 of the way through and commenced to nibble on people. oh, she was also a cool translucent amber color and had buck-tooth fangs and was prone to melodrama, but that's a whole other story.

Never has a brilliant book been more traduced by a shaky film. The triffids look like Himalayan Balsam on acid, and the cast are so wooden the only cure would be a termite nest placed at the beginning of the first real. It's so bad, it's watchable!
