This Chaplin feature is nothing less than brilliant filmmaking. I found it more enjoying than "Modern Times" or even "City Lights."

This is clearly the most underrated and least well known of Chaplin's features, although he received a special Academy Award for it in 1928. Some of his freshest and best timed scenes.

Chaplin's final proper silent era picture is a delight. The use of subtle special effects, frame sleight of hand and some fantastic mimicry make this a hugely enjoyable piece of cinema.
