this was such a great documentary...what was fairly terrifying was the two scenes---one frankenstein being chased, the other the gay man being chased by the angry mob...scary...

A fine adaptation of Vitto Russo's survey of homosexuality in cinema. This film sticks to American films more than Russo's book, but it's a great condensed study of the histories and issues surrounding portrayals of the GLBTQ community in film. It definitely acts as good starting point for analysis of gender and sexuality in cinema.

A fabulous documentary that makes you truly re-think the way that homosexuality was depicted in the classic cinema and how it may have been alluded to...and past the top movie brass.

Saw this originally at a theatre in SF during Gay Pride Week. Fascinating look into gay and lesbian history in film. Yeah, would like to see an updated version too! Things have come a long way in film since this was made.

A superb documentary following the homosexual representation in film history. Film clips and interviews with well known actors and writers highlight this fascinating historical account.
