A fascinating look at the history of gays in film. I would love to see it updated to present day. Very interesting to see how gays began with the sissie character, then disappeared into subtext, turned into depressed psycho killers who always die, and then to victims. Overall, great docu.

Decent documentary, although I felt it could have been a bit more exhaustive. To be fair, it was made right on the cusp of when queer cinema really exploded, and therefore just missed many interesting and extraordinary films that I would have liked to see commentary on. However, the bits about early Hollywood were especially fascinating.

This survey course in Hollywood homophobia is superb, and essential for anyone interested in matters of representation. If you're familiar with classic film, so much the better; it's a bit dated now, but still very relevant. An eye-opener, and a must-see!
