Tender, unusual and extremely well acted. I really enjoyed the film and the performances by the main actors. A powerful movie...well worth watching

The most fascinating kind of tension results, an unusual state of affairs that plays fair with the characters, and with us.

This was a thoughtful, slow paced movie about love and lost with a twist. I thought the acting was terrific and I liked the way it ended (no spoiler). I felt the only down side was that the baker character wasn't well enough developed, just fell a bit flat. Overall, really liked it.

"The Cakemaker" is a pretty average slow burn drama. It is true that there are a lot of nice little touches, an extra flavor if you want, and it is also true that nothing feel forced nor spelled out, but at the end of the view I was not.... I don't know.... full enough? It might be because of the ending, but to find out about that, you will have to see the movie first. Let me know.

A delicate thing that won't appeal to all tastes. But if you're willing to surrender yourself to its unusual vibe, you may find that it quietly builds a substantial effect.
