It's a sweet short movie before Monster's University that has some cute moments, but as it is too similar to the excellent other Disney short Paperman, it's nothing special.

Just like the Pixar films themselves, the shorts before the films are outstanding and "The Blue Umbrella" easily fits onto that list. The plot, the music, the animation/live action sequence were all brilliant and I hope this will be nominated for Best Animated Short and win.

Simple and sweet, as well as brimming with creativity and ingenuity. Pixar's best short in years, if not their best short. You would swear that the background animation is actual footage of a city, but don't be fooled - that's just the work of the masters of computer animation.
