The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years (2016)

The Beatles stormed through Europe's music scene in 1963, and, in 1964, they conquered America. Their groundbreaking world tours changed global youth culture forever and, arguably, invented mass entertainment as we know it today. All the while, the group were composing and recording a series of extraordinarily successful singles and albums. However the relentless pressure of such unprecedented fame, that in 1966 became uncontrollable turmoil, led to the decision to stop touring. In the ensuing years The Beatles were then free to focus on a series of albums that changed the face of recorded music.

This is without a doubt, the best film on the Beatles I have ever seen. It captures the ultimate joy and positivity of the meteoric rise of the Beatles on the world's stage. It also provides reason and justification for why it had to slow down allowing each individual to grow into the roles their popularity placed them in. I love the Beatles, I love the memories, I'm glad I never got close enough to have torn one of them apart, and I truly hope they know what they achieved has impacted nearly all facets of my life in the best way possible. Thank you, boys.

Eight Days a Week is a well-drawn reminder that nothing gold-or platinum-can stay, not even the biggest band in the world.

Saw the movie earlier. I was not prepared for how emotional I would feel while viewing the movie and hearing the music. I loved seeing old footage of the group interacting with each other, from rehearsals to just 'horsing' around. But that music...?!? Omg, so many fantastic songs!! I just wanted to jump out of my seat and dance. But really, just seeing them together, talking and singing, brought tears to my eyes. I see a lot of movies and sometimes I see them twice. Well, I have already called a few friends to tell them I'll tag along with them when they see it. I don't know if it will be in the theaters for an extended period of time but I hope to go back within the next couple of days. Their music and lyrics had me smiling all day!! Loved it.

4 out of 5 stars! This was a good little doc covering the short and tumultuous touring life of The Beatles before they stopped to focus on recording in the studio and making even better music! It shed some light on an area of The Beatles history that doesn't get a lot of attention anymore and gave some good attention to the social changes that were happening all around them and likewise how they were changing society.
