The disappointment and revulsion so subtly palpable in Alex Gibney's deep-voiced pastoral narration of Lance Armstrong's wrecked cycling career make for a thoroughly intriguing character study.

A fascinating documentary on the dialectics of truth and lying, the downfall of a super-ego, our obsession with power, money and glory. The philosophical questions it raises are deep and complex, but the story is also compelling, and the images of bicycle racing are absolutely beautiful.
