A gritty script backed by bold and brilliant performance by Kalki. Gulshan's character also needs a mention, he's emerging out to be a matured actor. I loved those random unconnected appearances of powerful actors like Piyush Mishra, Makrand Deshpande, Ronit Roy & Rajat Kapoor; they alongwith Naseeruddin's character very finely & subtly divert u from your expectations or predictions... Backed by brilliant camerawork and music too... A few scenes and sequences leave a mesmerizing effect... Kalki's smoking scene with traffic lights in background; The whole 'Chhitiyapa' ki entry wala sequence are just brilliantly executed... Ending leaves you with a fine food for thought! AK has that effect that we can't just ignore; can't just afford to miss a second in the movie... AK is definitely the GOD of Indian new wave...

A brave performance from Kalki Koechlin is certainly the highlight, but not the only reason to seek out this film.

A certain disturbance echoes through the movie which continues far beyond the movies ending and its one that leaves you lost in thought long after you've seen it.The ending is open and I find it striking similar to Micheal Clayton as it leaves me pondering and somewhere striking a strange but similar chord.

The girl in Yellow Boots, is not your typical Indian movie. It reminds me of another movie called "Love During Wartime" It is the Indian version. But the protagonist is female and older. She also has a monster for a father. I don't want to give the plot way. But I can tell you what this movie is like, it shot beautifully and has many honest moments. Also showing India from a female perspective. You see the world from her viewpoint. You see the sexually starved people and clearing of ones throat. It's quirky and features some wonderful cinematography and gives a whole new meaning to "Happy Endings" if also makes us look at ourselves and see what vile beast we are to exploit women for our own sexual pleasures. This movie, will take you away and is showing that India isn't all song and dance.
