As manic and melodramatic as the man and his music. Truly fantastic.

Moranâ??s film adaptation of his own stage play is wonderfully entertaining and one of the most enjoyable music biopics I have seen in recent years. Centering around a brilliant lead performance by Con Oâ??Neill as Joe Meek this grabbed me right from the start with its mixture of comedy and sense of pop culture history. Iâ??ve been a distant fan of Meek since a BBC documentary about him years ago and the contradiction of a drug using homosexual producing Margaret Thatcherâ??s favourite single. The first half of the film is tremendous and youâ??re really dropped right into the thick of Meekâ??s home recording studio, taken along with his maverick approach. As the film progresses, so the psychological aspects of it come to the fore and although the final third doesnâ??t match the other parts it is still nevertheless delivers a great little music biopic.

The strange and tragic story of Joe Meek innovator of several recording techniques and writer and producer of many hit records of the 60's. This is a well made bio pic.

before the beatles hit it bigtime, there was joe meek, a passionate producer, working out of his home to make rock n roll, bad desisions, and financial problems crippled him, andhere we see him seeing telstar and numorious bands to sucess or failing to,con o neil is a exellent watch playing the man, some good moments, and 60s setting and where britain was at is exelent, love the way he dissmisses the beatles, and does not want to see a guy from wales{ tom jones pehaps} so this film cetainly says, he made some bad moves in his time
