Surviving Christmas (2004)

A wealthy executive, Drew Latham (Ben Affleck) has no close relationships and becomes nostalgic for his childhood home as Christmas approaches. When he visits the house and finds another family living there, he offers the residents, Tom Valco (James Gandolfini) and his wife, Christine (Catherine O'Hara), a large sum of money to pretend they are his parents. Soon Drew tests the couple's patience, and, when their daughter, Alicia (Christina Applegate), arrives, things get increasingly tense.

here for a another christmas film with ben affleck who play drew latham the rich guy who meet tom valco(james gandolfini from HBO original series "the sopranos")to pay for spend time with "pretend" family in christmas.

This one was a bit too dirty for me, but the theme made it worth viewing. I love the way the family all comes together, in spite of their odd brother-sister love. (WINK)

Can't decide whether it wants to be dark or merry, and it bungles nearly every attempt at doing either.

I don't understand how people can hate this film as much as they do. It's not really that bad. I love it because of the cast and overall optimistic tone/message. Very funny.
