Summer Stock (1950)

To Jane Falbury's New England farm comes a troup of actors to put up a show, invited by Jane's sister. At first reluctant she has them do farm chores in exchange for food. Her reluctance becomes attraction when she falls in love with the director, Joe, who happens to be her sister's fiance.

Great dance sequences from Kelly. "Dig, dig, dig" is an especially great number. Plus, the "Get Happy" performance by Garland at the end is wonderful. Besides the great songs and dances, I love this movie because it gets to the heart of why people do theatre. As an actor, what more can I say than I agree...it is something that gets in your blood...the smell, the lights, the audience...Summer Stock let's you into that world.

I love Judy. I love this movie. Probably since I grew up around farms. Or it could be just because Judy is in it. : )
