Tame Miike but I'm under the impression that he was trying to pull a Hollywood remake of a beloved cult classic down to the production value which, even if it wasn't high, looks like it and the cliche dialogue. Perhaps a subtle slap in the face to the current remake trend?

What an odd film. This movie has bits of Henry the 8th, The Three Stooges, Romeo and Juliet, any western, and a dash of epic samurai appeal. A must see for fans of cross-genre films. Though the English spoken in this movie was piss-poor, it was a small price to pay for such visual beauty and crafty storytelling.

The most fabulous movie I have seen. Beautiful filming, brilliant and funny and will blow you away with the amazing costumes and action. Something I could watch over and over again.

What happens when you add the cinematic ingredients of Akira Kurasowa's Yojimbo mixed with Sergio Corbucci's Django add a dash of The Man With No Name and a shaving of Quentin Tarantino with Takashi Miike at the helm? You get one hell of a ride! This movie has all the flair of East meets the Wild West and then some. From the great comedy bits to the blood and gore and the beautiful cinematography. Takashi Miike once again pulls off a masterpiece (in my opinion) that creates a very genuine western genre film.

This is to me what Grindhouse was last year. Incredibly over-the-top and ridiculously entertaining. If you have even a passing interest in this movie because you think "Japanese Spaghetti Western, how could that not be awesome" then you will love this. Obviously this is not for everyone, but if you are a fan of spaghetti westerns, I would definitely suggest watching this.
