A triumphant piece of acting from Dustin Hoffman in an authentic story about a career criminal hitting roadblocks as he tries to go straight.

We've got a late 70's movie starring Dustin Hoffman, Gary Busey and Harry Dean Stanton. What's not to dig with a combo like that? Hoffman tries to lead a normal life post jail time but a shady parol officer steers him on the wrong path. Based on Eddie Bunker's book, you may know him as Mr Blue in Reservoir Dogs, this seems to be personal and realistic. I recommend this

Edward Bunker's novel "No Beast So Fierce" gets the big screen treatment and is thankfully well handled. Dustin Hoffman gives one of his best performance, whilst the legend that is Harry Dean Stanton co-stars alongside Kathy Bates and Gary Busey. An all round great film.

Hoffman during his 70's heyday, playing an ex-con who fails at his attempt to stay straight while out on parole. Based upon a non-fiction work, written firsthand by former thief and addict Edward Bunker. A pet project of Hoffman, who starred, produced and co-directed the work. One of 1978's best flicks. Ultra-realistic tale with all the details covered.
