Steptoe & Son (1972)

Albert Steptoe and his son Harold are rag-and-bone men, complete with horse and cart to tour the neighbourhood. They also live together at the junk yard. Harold, who likes the bright lights in the West End of London, meets a stripper, marries her and takes her home. Albert is furious and tries every trick he knows to drive the new bride from his household.

A good film for the Steptoe duo with wonderful support by carolyn Seymour, its funny, entertaining and even a tad touching

The first film sees Harold fall in love and engaged after one night of meeting a stripper. Soon the relationship goes downhill maily because of his very needing Father Albert. If you want to watch one of the films the second one is defiantly the best with the blind greyhound

I love Steptoe & Son and this movie really shows Harold and his dirty old man at their rag & bone best. 5 stars for this old gem.

It's rare to see a really good movie version of a television sitcom but this is just superb. The writing is as solid as ever, the story works perfectly, the construction is great...I can't praise it enough. Some elements may seem a little dated and un-PC but it's a product of it's time. Better than most British comedy movies of today.

It's not a bad film but certainly lacks the laughs of the well loved series. Harold gets married to a stripper but steptoe goes out of his way to make sure his presence is felt.
