Martin was a normal teenage boy before the country collapsed in an empty pit of economic and political disaster. A highly satisfying low-budget horror-thriller from helmer/co-writer Jim Mickle.

This is not just a very good zombie movie, it is a very good movie period. Everyone is vulnerable to the walking dead be they baby, nun, or even a pregnant teenager which made this seem more real than any zombie movie I have ever seen. The haunting sound track, a cast of unknowns (except for Kelly McGillis), a very authentic landscape, tightly written dialogue made this film a cut above other films of this genre. It is Road Warrior meets Karate Kid meets The Road meets Zombie Land but still maintains its own personality. Well done.

In an age of vampire movies filled with soppy teens it's nice to see one get back to all the bleakness - but without the comic book gore of '30 Days of Night' (don't get me wrong, that's allowed, being based on a comic series!) Best part for me though is the haunting soundtrack in combination with the natural beauty of some of the American wilderness.
