Spring Forward (2000)

Trying to put himself back together after serving prison time for robbery, Paul takes a job as a parks employee in a small Connecticut town. His co-worker, Murph, a generation older than Paul, is dealing with his own issues, chiefly the the impending death of his very ill gay son. After the men have a run-in with local snob Frederickson, Murph's age and experience starts to temper Paul's fiery nature, as the younger man begins to embrace his new life.

This film hit me at the right time. It's a wonderful sprawling philosophical film that builds to a powerful climax. Liev Schrieber and Ned Beatty give great performances in this.

Has the feel of a play- but the characters are rich and full

A small, quiet film, touching in its simplicity.

Kevin Maynard 25 May 2008

The movie's seven scenes were filmed in real time (as opposed to condensed editing-room time) over the course of a year, giving the drama an extra touch of realism and humanity.

Michael Dequina 26 Mar 2010

Beatty and Schreiber generate a convincing camaraderie that is warm and touching yet with a refreshing lack of sticky sentiment.
