It is all very complex and confused. Indeed, it is so oddly garbled that John Patrick and Arthur Sheekman, who did the script, have to go for a melodramatic shooting to bring it all to a tolerable end.

Minnelli's greatest film. Another masterpiece viewed by this reviewer in awe at the BAM!

There are moments in this movie when you almost laugh at the overuse of lighting and music to emphasize feeling. But I guess Hollywood was just getting it's sea legs when it comes to melodrama. Interesting to see frank Sinatra and Dean Martin act incredibly well. Pretty good movie overall

A writerly melodrama that whips up some mesmerising performances.

Sinatra's and Martin's first team up and I loved it. Not hard for Martin to play Alabama though.
