Snapshots (2018)

Rose spends her days fishing near the beautiful lake house she's called home for 50 years. She's not getting any younger and her daughter Patti worries about Rose being all alone, but the stubborn matriarch will not sell. There are memories here that she doesn't want to leave. These come flooding back one weekend during a visit from Patti and granddaughter Allison, when a long-forgotten roll of film reminds Rose of the summer she met and fell in love with the bold and beautiful Louise.

I loved this movie. It started a bit slow then it drew me in until I sat awestruck by the story, the characters and the love story. It made me want to be bold like Young Rose and be my true North. Three days later and I'm still thinking about it. See it.

Snapshots presents a moving portrait of its central relationship doomed by societal constrictions. The female characters are well-drawn and vibrant, while the men are depicted sympathetically.

Really loved this film. Subtle and enticing. Acting was outstanding all around though I liked the young actresses best.

I saw this film at the Soho International Film Festival. The story is well told with twists and turns. The flashbacks to 1960 were the best parts of the film. I thought Piper Laurie was the star, but kudos to a brilliant ensemble cast. See it.
