Shimmer Lake drips with desperation, with its characters seeking escape, justice, and revenge. It's this aspect of the story that got its hooks in me.

Shimmer Lake is a solid mystery with Coen Brothers style violence and humor. While Uziel's film isn't on par with Fargo it's still a good ride.

Underrated film that will be seen by few, which is a shame considering how good it is. A story told in the vein of Memento that knows how to cleverly and methodically unravel a mystery by slowly deconstructing itself over the course of its 83 minute run-time. A screen writer for Heist and 22 Jump Street, Orien Uziel has shown his potential with his directorial debut in Shimmer Lake. I very much look forward to seeing his future films with his talent.
