if you liked slumdog millionaire ... check this out ... a brutally honest depiction of the life of the children of the streets of the Mumbai ... made way back in 1988, this is Indian Cinema at its best !

Similar to Pixote about the slums of Bombay

The director's experience making documentaries served her well as she worked for weeks with the kids who inhabit Bombay's backstreets.

Refreshing movie from the streets of Bombay (present Mumbai). It made me feel a bit depressed but I liked it. Haven't seen anything like it before.

Very few films are able to capture life without seeming, for lack of a better word, false. Mira Nair was able to capture it with an honesty that few have ever accomplished. A truly moving accomplishment.
