Bobbito’s storytelling is infectious, and the scenes of community outreach are heartwarming. May all such vanity projects have such a friendly beat.

Cole Smithey 24 Jul 2018

"Rock Rubber 45s" is a personalized crash course into New York culture that charms by virtue of this film's charismatic subject. Sure it's self-reflexive; that's the point.

Brian Thompson 23 Jul 2018

As a filmmaker, Bobbito García continues to flaunt his superb abilities as a trend-setter.

Glenn Kenny 26 Jun 2018

Bobbito Garcia, the author, basketball maven, sneaker obsessive, D.J. and all-around culture entrepreneur, is one of the most personable documentary subjects I’ve encountered in quite some time.

John DeFore 27 Jun 2018

Though enjoyable as it touches on some of the liveliest scenes in New York City's recent pop-culture history, the doc's appeal is greatly limited by Garcia's blinkered perspective on his own life.
