If U didn't get the Citizen Kane the first time you watched it I recommend watching this and then taking a re-run on the good old Orson.

Watch Citizen Kane itself, and then watch this very interesting dissection of the making of the film. Liev Schrieber is phenomenal as Orson Welles, and the times are accurately portrayed. Moviemaking as it should be.

RKO 281 is a good documentary movie, that shows the struggles of Orson Welles in the making of the film considered the greatest of all time: Citizen Kane.

I wanted to like this film more than I did. The cast minus Melanie Griffith was superb. (I've never liked Griffith in ANYTHING) However, the story seemed to only skim the surface of Wells and the fight over Citizen Kane itself. I felt cheated and wanted more substance on what was a facinating subject. I hope someone does do the ultimate Bio movie on Orson Wells. It would put Scorsese's The Aviator to shame if done right.
