In this season of self-important filmmaking, it's nice to watch a movie that entertains while refusing to take itself too seriously.

Parables are stories about other people that help us live our own lives. The problem with the French film Ricky is that the lesson of the parable is far from clear, and nobody is likely to encounter this situation in his own life.

As I started watching the movie I was waiting for it to pick up and get into an actual story..finally Ricky is born with little understanding of what the characters are dealing with. Then Ricky comes along...and he has wings...which at first make him look like chicken wings. Anywho, as the movie progresses it feels as if though we will get a better understanding of why he has wings; but its a false sense of hope. The ending is what really pissed me off...this miracle baby and then poof..things go back to normal. People were acting as if this is part of the norm and everything. Blah. Rent it? Umm nah. Buy it? Don't.

Not your usual plot-line, and actually the movie isn't all that unusual, nor are the relationships or interactions in the movie except the one element of fantasy which is when the baby boy develops wings and starts flying around. Although, were something like this were to happen, the wat that the tabloids and press treat the family and situation is probably realistic to what it would be if it happened in real life. Check this one out if you are looking for a different kind of movie.
