Outstanding film. I needed to get more public recognition. The story is beautiful and tragic not because it was written well, but because it is true. It is said so see that one who had worked so hard to redeem himself (Tookie) was still seen by many as a a treacherous thug rather than the world changer he had become. Not better, than but on par with Denzel Washington "The Hurricane".

It reminded me of The Hurricane, except this guy, Tookie, really did some horrible things. He published kids books and a memoir and spoke to kids about peace and ending gang violence. Who can know a man's true heart but God? REDEMPTION - give it some thought! His death penalty was carried out in Dec. 2005.

When I first noticed this video's existence, I passed it off saying that I would never watch it. Due to a recent sale at Circuit City, I decided to buy it for $6 on a friends recommendation. Never knowing who the man is or what he created, I learned a lot through this. The acting was really good, pretty much amazing. I now know how such a violent street gang(s) were created how the same man who created them is trying to put a stop to it. Do I believe in the fact that someone can change for their past crimes? Yes. I still am however on the fence about the death penalty, but this movie did open my eyes and made me think more about how I can help change this world.

Jamie Foxx flat out makes this movie awesome. It's the true (and surprisingly accurate) story of Stan "Tookie" Williams who was the founder of the notorious LA gang the Crips which has now become one of the biggest and most notorious gangs in the country. The story is told through the eyes of Williams as he takes a look back through all the events in his life that led him to start the gang, what it became, and how it led to his downfall. This notorious gangster while imprisioned eventually settles down, begins to read and write, becomes a Christian and turns his situation into an inspiring one for others by writing a series of award winning childrens books aganist gang violence. It grows to the point where he receives a nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize while on death row. This movie contains all of the information about Williams life, but more importantly how he impacted others once he realized he had wasted his.

great acting from Jamie- have read the book too they keep it accurate- such a shame the real tookie is gone he could have finnally done some good if they let him.
