Raavan is just an tremendous piece of work from the brilliant Mani Ratnam who directed classics like Dil Se & Guru hasn't stop to amaze us in this new saga... Honestly i don't know anything about the source of ''Raavan'' and the history of it but what i saw completly amazed me in different pleaseant ways... Put Bollywood's most influencial couple with an talented director and an musical maeostro such as A.R Rehman and Voilà you get pure entertainment...

For Bollywood to cross over to "sci-fi" the storyline could have been so much more. The actors and some effects saved the movie not forgetting the song.

The love triangle is as tediously underwhelming as the slo-mo action, but the actors, costumes and lush mountainsides are easy on the eye.

The movie is shot at scenic locations and is visually pleasing but its too boring and moves at a slow pace.The acting was good but there was nothing special or amazing about the story.

Mani Ratnam put a great deal of effort with his camera-work, aided by beautiful locations. And that is certainly the highlight of the movie. But if he could have focussed a little more on the script and pacing this could have been such a good movie. After a nice start it becomes extremely laborious, the story goes nowhere; as if all the director cared about was to look for the next gorgeous shot. Sure he seems to put in effort at the end to give the movie an unpredictable turn; but it just doesnt work. Also, the movie was a let-down in terms of acting. Abhishek simply over-acted in most of his scenes and Ashwariya was mostly annoying. And the movie's best song, Ranjha, was used poorly; it would've been better had they not used it at all. Overall, despite the nice visuals, Raavan is another disappointment.
