Quest for Fire (1981)

In the prehistoric world, a Cro-Magnon tribe depends on an ever-burning source of fire, which eventually extinguishes. Lacking the knowledge to start a new fire, the tribe sends three warriors on a quest for more. With the tribe's future at stake, the warriors make their way across a treacherous landscape full of hostile tribes and monstrous beasts. On their journey, they encounter Ika, a woman who has the knowledge they seek.

I thought this movie was awesome. I have seen it several times and though there is a lot of sexual content, it was also very funny in certian points in the movie. people offened to this movie due to its strong sexual content will miss a well directed movie. With an excellent cast. This movie gives one possible way humans evolved. Raw? Yes......but life did not form in a candy shop.....

I love this movie. I remember when it came out there was quite the controversy. But, if you think you'd like to watch a movie about prehistoric man as fire technology was being developed and feel like you're there, watch this. There's no speaking (in any modern language anyway). I saw a special feature on the dvd. And, they developed their own language. They tried to be as authentic as possible (in all ways so be careful. it is rated R).

Love it!! Real life stuff in the dark ages. Sex..come on who does not enjoy sex. Its a part of life. Also teaches you about laughing when it gets tough and SURVIVAL. Could you all have survived during these times?

What seemed to start out as a parody of silly cavemen movies turned into a riveting adventure film about the dawn of man and the earliest flickers of civilization. Jean-Jacques Annaud's film about three prehistoric men and their search to capture fire contains no words of English but thanks to great storytelling and convincing acting, we still know what's going on. There are no major plot twists, no garish, effects driven action sequences; just a film dedicated to showing what it might've been like back then...80,000 years ago.
