Prowl (2010)

Amber dreams of escaping her small town existence and persuades her friends to accompany her to find an apartment in the big city. When their transportation breaks down, she and her friends gratefully accept a ride in the back of a semi. But when the driver refuses to stop and they discover the cargo is hundreds of cartons of blood, they panic. Their panic turns to terror when the truck disgorges them into a dark, abandoned warehouse where blood-thirsty creatures learn to hunt human prey, which, the friends realize, is what they now are...

Prowl is a bit of a mish-mash between horror sub-genres, but it does have an air of creepiness about it and I found the first half of the film to be very effective for the most part, but the second half seems to drag and the less than earth-shattering revelations that the film throws at you do little to elevate it. A decent atmosphere and 'smarter than the average bear' characters do push this into the territory that would cause me to recommend this, but only mildly. There certainly are other films that do what this does and do it better.

I hate horror movies where they give away everything in the beginning. I hate horror movies where the main protagonist is the least interesting character. I hate horror movies where the only reason you jump is because the sound effects are amped up super high on the kill scenes. There is absolutely nothing here you haven't seen a million times. But the acting is good and it does move at a fairly crisp pace. Not the worst movie ever.....call it 30 Days of Night Light
