A small group of friends decide to test the courage of the most frightened guy of the team and such test involves skydiving. Pretending to be reporters doing an article about it, they meet instructor Truman Sparks at his Parachute School, a dopey guy who's willing to help and teach the terrified poor man on how to perform a jump before going to the real thing.

One of my favorite movies of all time...a beautiful movie with perfect performances from the main cast

Madden directed Paltrow in the play on the London stage, but he does his "Shakespeare in Love" goddess no favors by filling the screen with big close-ups that betray the theatrical origins of the piece and drain the movie of life and urgency. Proof hasn't been filmed at all -- it's been embalmed.

This is one of those movies that I meant to see when it was in the theater but forgot to actually go watch. I rented it on a whim one night and was blown away. I wasn't sure what to feel afterwards. Amazing story. And one of these days I'm sure I'll be ready to see it again.
