Project: Metalbeast (1995)

With the medical breakthrough of a metal-based synthetic skin called "bio-ferron" the prospect for pioneering surgeries for burn victims and cancer patients seems set to occur but for the warped head scientist in charge...it's a opportunist chance to reactivate a long forgotten classified project...that has been left frozen in a set of cryogenic chambers deep beneath the bowels of government laboratory. Convincing the other in the research team to start work on putting this living 'metal' skin on corpses, he now has the perfect test patients waiting on ice for them to work on. But there was a reason three of these stiffs in particular where left to chill. Due to an experiment gone bad these three only look human on the outside and none of them are as dead as everyone believes they are.

I give the filmmakers credit for going as far over-the-top with the concept as they do, but by no objective measure is this a good film. If, however, you're in the right mindset (and have had, perhaps, a drink or two), you might get something out of it.

I feel as if I wanted to like this one more than it would actually let me, as I can barely remember anything about it and it's as if I blotted it from my mind the moment credits rolled, I only have vague memories of sketchy special effects. A rental at best, and I might try to give it a go again in the future, just to see if anything changes for me.

Less Project more metalbeast! it was boring, alot of talking. Needed more metal werewolf killing people.

A festival of 90s cheap horror schlock, Project Metalbeast is at least competently directed even if the acting and effects work is hilarious at times. Kane Hodder plays the metalbeast (the monster itself) and Barry Bostwick of Spin City fame plays a shady colonel who has nefarious plans with his ex partner/werewolf. Overall enjoyable in a 90s schlock kind of way.
