When disc jockey Grant Mazzy reports to his basement radio station in the Canadian town of Pontypool, he thinks it's just another day at work. But when he hears reports of a virus that turns people into zombies, Mazzy barricades himself in the radio booth and tries to figure out a way to warn his listeners about the virus and its unlikely mode of transmission.

This unsettlingly quirky account of semiological breakdown and small-town apocalypse plays like My Winnipeg for fans of intellectual horror. Pontypool is as astonishing as it is original, and amply repays multiple viewings.

Beginning was awesome, ending not as good, but still a very good movie, purely based on viewer's imagination.

After almost 6 years, this is still the first film I recommend to anyone looking for a horror film that delivers more than stupid cheap jumps. This multi-genera film engages it's audience on a deeply psychological level. While the action is low for a horror film, the plot is still incredibly heavy. The acting isn't only believable, it carries an almost exclusively dialog based horror picture without ever getting boring. In regards to the low budget of the film, I will say money is spent where it matters. This is without a doubt one of my favorite movies of all time.
