In 79 A.D., Milo, a slave turned gladiator, finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Cassia, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.

A truly spectacular film with faultless CGI and what it looses in plot line it makes up for in character devlopment.

The visual effects were stunning and mesmerizing in Blu-ray, worth the rental price alone! I don't care what the critics say or believe, this film was great. Entertaining, fast-paced, with plenty of action, drama and major natural disasters that inevitably will terminate all the characters. Yes that was the only negative. I don't recall watching any other film where the entire cast is annihilated. Despite that, I give Pompeii four stars and I highly recommend this alluring film in Blu-ray, where you will spend the nearly next two hours reliving life in Pompeii. Sadly the city was destroyed and buried under 13 to 20 feet of ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD as you will see in this motion picture.

I thought this would be some crappy Greek/Roman themed movie like Clash of the Titans but I was pleasantly surprised. The actors aren't the best, but it's amazing how the movie ties in the erupting volcano making the trivial human quarrels seem petty. And the ending is beautiful, couldn't have been better.
