Pacino does a good job portraying the weirdo and convicted murder Phil Spector.

Phil Spector doesn't give us much to talk about or applaud.

Al Pacino may have the title role, but the real star of this film is Helen Mirren, who plays Spector's attorney and a close second is writer/director David Mamet's typically sharp and terse dialogue, which is always a treat. However, that's not to diminish Al Pacino's fascinating portrait of Spector as something of a dark and mentally unbalanced genius. At 90 minutes it's a tight film that actually surprised me when it was over. I was ready to stay with these characters much longer. Regardless of whether the film was an accurate portrait of events, this was a fascinating film that's well worth watching wether you're familiar or interested in Spector or not.

El director y guionista David Mamet, al decidir dejar de lado la fascinante biografía del productor musical Phil Spector y al centrarse solamente en su juicio por asesinato, nos deja con una gran sensación de tener una historia incompleta. Sin embargo, las actuaciones de Helen Mirren, como la abogada de Spector y de Al Pacino, como el excéntrico productor, hacen que este drama legal salga a flote.

Not sure what's wrong with PHIL SPECTOR, the man or the movie. But at least the man is never dull. The film is just the middle/second act of a court room drama with generally no point or conclusion. The talent is all there--Mamet, Levinson, Mirren, and Pacino. Something went terribly wrong.
