Paparazzi (1964)

Paparazzi explores the relationship between Brigitte Bardot and groups of invasive photographers attempting to photograph her while she works on the set of Jean-Luc Godard's film Le Mépris (Contempt). Through video footage of Bardot, interviews with the paparazzi, and still photos of Bardot from magazine covers and elsewhere, director Rozier investigates some of the ramifications of international movie stardom, specifically the loss of privacy to the paparazzi. The film explains the shooting of the film on the island of Capri, and the photographers' valiant, even foolishly dangerous, attempts to get a photograph of Bardot.

Thought it was great, wasnt to violent for me, most of them deserve it. I know all are not that bad but come on they dont need to be stalkers. I do not read the tabloids for one. I like to see the stars but i dont need to see every personal moment they have! They go to great lengths to ambush them and get there pictures, most of which are crap!

This film was an unknown to me til I saw a trailer for it on another DVD I have. So I bought it from HMV for £7 and thought this is a fantastic film. Cole Hauser is not my favourite of actors but still he pulls off a brilliant performance along side Tom Sizemore as a baddy! Even my father who is hard to impress when it comes to films found this to be very good and he came in a watched it halfway through!

[i]Paparazzi [/i]is one of those movies where you can actually root for the good guy and not feel like a goody two shoes. If the paparazzi is even 10% of what it is represented as in this movie, those guys are complete slime balls. It's a nice film about a celebrity who stands up for himself. Not a pussy celebrity trying to keep everyone pacified, because when he and his family felt threatened, well, he took care of business. I really like films like this, and well, yeah, that's basically it. Now, is it worth the price of a ticket? Naw, I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but watch out for the rental or the HBO slot. The movie is damn good, and it has some very sleazy things hidden inside of it's film filled pockets.
