OtherLife (2017)

Ren Amari is the driven inventor of a revolutionary new drug. OtherLife expands the brain's sense of time and creates virtual reality directly in the user's mind. With OtherLife, mere seconds in real life feel like hours or days of exciting adventures. As Ren and her colleagues race around the clock to launch OtherLife, the government muscles in to use the drugs as a radical solution to prison overcrowding. I liked the concept. Kinda reminded me of one of the episodes of Black Mirror. I thought some of the character's motivations were not very clear though. It almost seemed like the screenwriters (5 of them?!) didn't really know where they were going with this thing most of the time. The villain's motivations were particularly murky and changeable. I thought the main actress did a good job acting but her Aeon Flux aesthetic/looks were really distracting and she just seemed really miscast for this role imo.

Beautifully made and a captivating story. When you think its over it gets better. Potentially the best Australian movie this decade.

I really enjoyed this film, I had been watching a heap of Black Mirror so Netflix suggested this movie, and if you like Black Mirror you more than likely will enjoy this film.

I thought the premise gave it a chance to be a pretty good movie, but I found myself bored to tears. Glad some people enjoyed it, but this, to me, was a not well done low budget film. I don't mind low budget independent movies in general, but give me something to like.
