great imigination. i love the scenary. but i know there's an environmental opinion in this and people loving pointing that out. that's great, except in pushing that point, they forgot about plot, subtext, character development, reasoning for love, etc etc etc etc though it's beautiful, it lacks substance as a story. it's just one scene to the next, and 75 minutes in, rush rush to end it without any real connections.

Another anime brought to the U.S. that has environmentalism as its theme. Surprise surprise. The animation was vivid and the greenery very pretty, but the CG was a bit painfully obvious. As with any movie, more depth would have been appreciated, but the story held together more or less. The ending was kind of "Okay, sure, whatever," but that's the same reaction I had to Mononoke-hime, so I guess that's just my take on environmentalism anime.

The concept behind this movie is captivating. The artistic environment and the music make a haunting and endearing movie. The characters are well designed / like able and really draw you into this environment. The story line is simple and designed for the young at heart. Overall, this is a spectacular vision and movie. I highly recommend it!

This movie was good until the second half, then it rushed everything to the end. It's as if the moviemakers needed another 20-30 minutes of movie but were forced to finish it quickly. This movie also tries very hard to be Miyazaki's "Naussica," and doesn't quite make it. But on the positive side, the animation is great, and it has some great ideas (though it doesn't develop them enough).
