Oliver Sherman (2011)

Feeling lost and disconnected, with no family of his own, veteran Sherman Oliver sets out to the countryside in search of the soldier who saved him back in the war. That man, Franklin Page, has long since moved on - to a wife, two children, and a reliable job in a reliably safe and quiet rural town. The stability Franklin worked so hard to establish is soon threatened, and the violence he believed he'd left behind in the war begins to re-emerge and cloud over both the household and the town itself.

Interesting character study of the aftermath of the realities of war and head trauma, and how hard it is for some people to move on while others deal with their demons and find peace The main reason I watched this is because I am a fan of Donal Logue, and he does shine in this, but it does get a little slow in the middle, and is very uncomfortable in parts, but it is worth a watch if you are into these kind of movies.

With quiet intensity, this contained drama feels like a stage play with its intimate approach and limited cast and settings. It also has a strong thematic kick that's both emotional and political, without ever being preachy.

'Oliver Sherman' starts out promising, with the hope that they decided to go more in to the thriller genre than drama.. but as you wait for the main character to unleash his wrath upon the family, you quickly realize that it's not going to happen. Truth be told, the film would have been more entertaining had they decided to go in that direction - because if you're looking for this type of drama, you're better off with movies like 'Jack knife' and 'The War at Home.'
