Ah... what a fun movie to watch. Soviet Montage rocks my socks. This movie helped spawn my love affair with jump cuts and disjunctive editing.

It is not easy for me to understand fully because I am an idiot in history. But all the hope in watching Eisenstein is about montage. I think the scene of rising bridge is most significant. Of course the metaphorical implication of the fall of Alexander III is also another crucial scene.

Eisenstein is definately one of the best directors in the history of cinema... This film is the proof... It takes you straight back in 1917... Excellent directing techniques considering that the film was shot in 1927!!!

The editing is good, but the narrative lacks.
