Tough but heartwarming story of young love

Being accustom to American cinema, its difficult to sit through a drama that doesn't assume entertainment and storytelling to be the same thing. There are parts of this movie that are beautiful. And there are parts that are downright heartbreaking. But without the cultural understanding, the hour and a half presentation is difficult to decipher, and maybe not worth the time.

North Sea Texas' production and costume design are notable and add a sense of kitsch, retro style to the overall film... This is all enhanced by the skilful cinematography of Anton Mertens.

A thought provoking film of a teenager growing up and experiencing love in a small town. Think of "Beautiful Thing" and "Get Real", but filmed in a sensitive and artistic manner.

Complicated nicely by the unrequited crush of Vergels' sister on their friend, it's a film of supple visual flair and delicately acted appeal: Florizoone in particular is the bee's knees.
