A slightly generic plot for a western, but with some good scenery along the way and some heavy weight actors for this genre make it worthwhile.

Hearing James Stewart play the accordion and sing is probably not the most pleasant part of this film. Great actor, bad singer. World War II Congressional Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, not usually recognized as top acting talent, turns in the best performance in this film and he and Stewart are surrounded by cast of great character actors. [i]Night Passage[/i] was the first U.S. film produced in Technirama, superior large format wide screen system developed by Technicolor, Inc., and the photography is extremely good. Worth a look.

Two honest to God war heroes in the same western? Who could ask for more?

Although the plot is a very familiar one, two brothers, one good and one bad, but it is done very well in this film, and James Stewart's presence is a huge plus. Well produced, good supporting cast, nicely photographed.

Fantastic photography. The plot, however, is a bit dull initially. It gets better a little too late.
