Verbal communication has been outlawed by the rich elite, in an attempt to stop people speaking out against the conditions they live in. The new laws are enforced by the security department of the Spectrum corporation, a huge conglomerate of the five biggest companies in the world. A voyeuristic filmmaker falls in love with an underground spoken word artist. As they find themselves unable to talk to one another, they start to make small films and write letters to one another. As the poet speaks out against Spectrum, and its owners, their lives become in danger. Will they be able to save each other in time?

While it hints at a modest complexity bubbling beneath the surface, it's never particularly interested in making a resounding statement.

This is a different film, very different. My first reaction was sesnsory overload as I tried to focus on the plot at the same time as absorbing the level of detail in the world the film created. As it progressed however I became gripped and by the end almost overwhelmed by the story - I suspect this was largely because of the shades of grey in the characters (made harder by the use of 'good guy' actors as bad guys). By the end I felt quite stunned, in a good way. This will need re-watching, but I want to watch it again soon, and that's not often the case.

I really enjoyed this movie. It had a lot to offer and kept me watching. Some other reviewers were extemely harsh given this movie was actually good. They can suck my balls.

In my opinion this movie is quite entertaining. The characters were well developed and not one dimensional like many recent holllywood films. The visuals were also appealing, maybe not as great as Blade Runner 2049, but then I doubt it had the same budget. What it is not is a sci-fi. Yes it is set in the near future but that has very little to do with the story, it could have just as been set in the near past or present day. As fas as story line and acting I give it a thumbs up.
