Mumford (1999)

When a would-be psychologist, curiously named Dr. Mumford, comes to the idyllic town of the same name and offers his talent for listening and a disarming frankness, the town's quirkiest citizens scramble for a seat on his couch. As he lightens hearts darkened by old secrets no one realizes he's hiding a whopper of his own, or that he's fallen head over heels for one of his patients!

Shockingly good film. It's about a fake psychologist and even though it's supposed to be comedy, but it felt so real. I enjoyed it.

Nice little movie though there is one plotline that's a little out there.

This is a movie I'd forgotten I enjoyed until I saw it on cable this weekend. Very quirky, but heartfelt, and both Loren Dean and Jason Lee give wonderful performances. It's the kind of film you don't realize you're enjoying until it's over. Definitely a renter for a quiet Sunday afternoon.

How refreshing it is to see a studio picture where plot development is revealed not so much by grandiose action as by the small, interior shifts that are witnessed through a character's eyes.

A movie that really catches you off guard. Loren Dean is really good in it.
