A German living in India during World War II is blackmailed by the English to impersonate an SS officer on board a cargo ship leaving Japan for Germany carrying a large supply of rubber for tyres. His mission is to disable the scuttling charges so the captain cannot sink the ship if they are stopped by English warships.

For some reason, no one knows about this movie; nonetheless, it's epic.

Great suspense film with thrilling subtext and twists. Interesting camera work such as when Brando (Kyle) starts in the foreground early in a shot and arrives in the background of the same shot to show the passage of time. A very worthy actor's duel between Marlon Brando and Yul Brynner!

Overlong but good. Marlon Brando adds something to any film he is in. Fine cinematography and score. Disturbing at times, but it is a strong film. Nice direction. It should have been a film that stands out, but just isn't.

This is the good part of trying to see all of Brando's films -- there are a couple of really good ones in there. Well-acted, well-paced, beautifully photographed film.

Worth seeing for the actors, especially Brando, Brynner, Howard, and Cox. Weak story with some glaring moments that strain credulity.
