Emperor Spengo sees Marge Nelson and using a giant magnet, kidnaps her and her husband Dick, hoping to make Marge his before blowing up the Earth. The Emperor and other inhabitants of his planet are somewhat less than bright, and Dick begins reliving episodes of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers in order to rescue Marge, save the Earth, and restore the rightful emperor to the throne.

This has got to be the dumbest movie ever made....okay its dumb, but it is also the funniest movie ever created! There is a ridiculous plot that makes absolutely no sense, but it is my still my favorite movie ever! haha

If you like Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon and dumb dumb humor (akin to that found in The Stupids) then this should be right up your alley. A quarreling couple is zapped up by a spaceman with their station-wagon. The spaceman wants the wife for himself and banishes the husband to the dungeon. Because the guards are all about as smart as those in Idiocracy he easily escapes to save his wife.

What happens when you combine the fantastical imagination of The Wizard of Oz with the zany comedy stylings of Beetlejuice and National Lampoons all set in a scifi setting? Well, you might end up with Mom and Dad Save the World. While the film is filled with total bumblings (it's filled with dumb humour... literally), it does show promise. There are aspects of the film that are very Monty Pythonesque and the cast is phenomenal. Eric Idle, Kathy Ireland, Jon Lovitz, Jeffrey Jones, Teri Garr and Wallace Shawn are all big names and great character actors. It's too bad that the film wasn't better. If you have kids, they'll likely love this film. It has a mentality and intelligence that is right on their level.
