Satu-satunya film Indonesia yang aku tonton sampai lebih dari 5 kali (terutama fighting scenes-nya)...Aku sendiri mulai gerah dengan film-film Indonesia yang isinya love,horor, dan comedy-sex. Merantau muncul sebagai film bergenre action-drama pertama yang membawa kultur budaya silat setelah hampir 15 tahun vakum...Great job!!

En una villa existe cierta costumbre en la que los varones de cada familia deben emprender un viaje para poderse encontrar con su madurez, para poderse probar ante el mundo y poder regresar a su hogar convertidos en hombres, Yuda ha llegado a la edad para iniciar su viaje y se dirige hacia la ciudad Jakarta para poder probar suerte enseñando Pencak Silat el arte marcial indonesio. Pero las cosas se complican y se ve envuelto en un problema con traficantes de mujeres y grupos pandilleros, pero debe enfrentarse a todo si desea ayudar a la joven Asirt y su pequeño hermano. Artes marciales poco vistas y una buena trama, bastante recomendables.

Just watched Merantau. Awesome film! If you have seen 'The Raid' then you'll love this! Merantau made a couple of years before 'The Raid' and has a few actors who have appeared in both especially the outstanding Iko Uwais as the lead. A simple story played out by great performances. Fight scenes brilliantly captured. Superbly directed by the director of both films Gareth Evans.

The fights were ok. The plot between them was tedious. It's good to know that Evans goes on to direct the amazing 'The Raid'.
