Dans les films d'arts martiaux orientaux, on trouve toujours un bouseux au grand coeur qui dÃ©couvre la grande ville et ses dangers mais comme il maÃ®trise un art ancestral appris chez un vieux qui s'exprime par mÃ©taphores et oxymores, il mets un raclÃ©e Ã tout le monde et sauve la jeune fille (quelle jeune fille ? Ben...LA jeune fille, tiens). Sauf qu'ici, Ã§a s'appelle "Merantau" et pas "Ong Bak", que c'est indonÃ©sien et pas thaÃ¯landais et que le dit bouseux maÃ®trise le "Silat" plutÃ´t que le "Muay thaÃ¯" (et Ã§a a quand mÃªme l'air de faire moins mal). Une fois de plus, c'est trÃ¨s convenu dans le dÃ©roulement mais pas dÃ©plaisant Ã regarder pour ceux qui aiment les cabrioles de moine shaÃ´lin. Chaque pays d'Asie semble avoir besoin de son ersatz local de Bruce Lee : en la personne de Iko Uwais, l'IndonÃ©sie semble avoir trouvÃ© le sien.

The fighting sequences are terrific by Gareth Evans who is one of the best action directors out right now but the story doesn't carry the movie as well as the action does.

Lots of action as the movie promised with a decent story to go with. Merantau is an all action movie which, as many say, could have been edited better with a few better actors throw in but it still is worth the watch.

a vile bag of garbage named ''MERANTAU'' is tells a centuries-old Sumatran custom wherein adolescent males must leave their rural villages and prove their manhood abroad before being allowed to return home. Teenage Yuda (Iko Uwais) has travelled to the big city of Jakarta for his merantau but soon finds himself in trouble when he helps a young stripper named Astri and save her life. horrible and poor fight effects, just waste your special time if you watch this
